Saab Key Programming
Saab cars made since 1994 have an immobilizer system built on coded keys. To add an additional key, you need the purchase of a new transponder as well as special programming. This is usually done by the dealer using the Tech2 diagnostic tool.
It can be costly. It is recommended to always have an extra set of keys at hand.
Transponder key
The transponder is a type of key that has an electronic chip. The chip sends a signal when the key is placed into the ignition. The car then checks the signal to see whether it is the same as the one in the key. If the signals match, the car will unlock itself and start. This is a great method to prevent auto theft and keep your car safe from thieves.
Transponder keys are a common feature in automobiles, however it is important to know that they're not as secure as traditional metal keys. While the metal component of a conventional key can be cut and copied the transponder is protected by an electronic chip. This chip has a unique code programmed into the car's computer to identify it.
The car will recognize the Saab keyfob and allow it to turn on. The car will only recognize the key fob when it has an unmodified chip and has been programmed to match. In the absence of that, the car will reject the key and refuse to start.

Wired key
Saab cars usually come with two keys upon purchase. If you have only one, it is recommended to get an additional key as quickly as you can. This is because if you lose it the car will require an entirely new CIM and the locking cylinders replaced. This can be expensive, especially for used cars.
The next step is to connect the row and columns wires to your microcontroller. This is the most tedious part of the project and it will require a lot of soldering. It's not a common way to go about it, but you need to determine how to route and connect each column and row. There are 22 microcontroller wires and pins that you can connect for this keyboard. It has five rows and 17 columns.
After saab car key replacement and column are joined then it's time to connect the key switches. To do this, place a diode over each pin of the key switch and solder it. This will protect the key switch pins from current and prevent them from being shorted. A diode lets current only flow in only one direction. Jump-starting the battery
Most people keep a few sets of jumper cables in their trunks to use in an emergency, but jumping a battery on modern automobiles might not be the most efficient option. These vehicles are equipped with numerous computers and digital devices which communicate with each other. A surge in voltage when a battery is hooked up to another battery could fry these components and leave your vehicle unable to drive.
Connect the cables to the vehicle working. Let it run for two minutes. Attach the red clip to the positive terminal on the good battery (it will have "POS" or "+" on it). Attach the other end of the black cable to a clean, unpainted metal surface underneath the car's hood. The engine block would be an ideal choice. Do not connect the black cable to the negative terminal on the dead battery because it could spark an ignition spark that ignites the gasoline in the engine bay.
Once the cables are connected, you need to start the car and let it run for approximately five minutes. Then disconnect the cables in reverse. The battery in your Saab 9-3 will be recharged as you drive. It will take a while for it to fall back. It is a good idea to buy a spare key fob as soon as you can, since replacing the only functioning one requires the installation of a new computer module and special programming to convince the system that your lost keys are not trying to steal the car.
Replacement Case
Saab owners typically only have one car key, and if it is lost, they'll be charged. The reason is that it's expensive to add a new key, and this involves replacing the CIM (Column Integration Module) or TWICE on older models, and programming. It is best to have a second key in the event of theft or other disaster, and the best way is to buy an extra key as early as you can. Even when the key is "new" it won't work.
The dealer will charge the highest dollars if you only have one working key. However, we can reset and re-program your computer's EEPROM to accept an alternative key without replacing the whole system. This can save you lots of money. It's also less expensive than waiting until you lose the only key.
